Act on multiple entries at once

Tagging, deleting, or moving entries one by one gets tiring fast. Selection mode lets you pick many and act on them as a group.

Enter selection mode

In the Vocabulary tab, long-press any entry. The AppBar swaps to selection mode — its title changes to “N selected” and a row of bulk-action icons replaces the normal AppBar.

To add more entries to your selection, tap them. To toggle one off, tap it again.

Select all visible entries

In selection mode, tap the select-all icon (tooltip “Select all”). It selects everything currently visible in the list. Tap again — the tooltip is now “Clear selection” — to deselect.

This works in combination with filters: filter the list first (by language, tag, or wordbook), then Select all picks just that subset. Useful for “tag all my French entries from this trip” or “delete every entry from this one wordbook.”

What you can do with the selection

The AppBar shows these icons (left to right):

  • Cancel selection (X icon, leading edge) — exit selection mode without changes.
  • Delete selected entries (trash icon) — confirms before deleting.
  • Favorite / Unfavorite selected (star). The icon reflects the state of the selection: if everything in your selection is already favorited, it offers to unfavorite all; otherwise it favorites all.
  • Select all / Clear selection (described above).
  • Tag selected entries (label icon) — pick a tag (existing or new) to apply to every selected entry.
  • Remove tag from selected (label-off icon) — pick a tag to remove from every selected entry that has it.
  • Add selected to wordbook (wordbook icon) — pick a wordbook to add all selected entries into.
  • Remove from wordbook (wordbook icon, red tint) — remove all selected entries from a chosen wordbook.

Exit selection mode

Tap Cancel selection (the X on the left), or tap any selected entry to deselect it until none remain.

Per-entry actions

If you only want to act on one entry, you don’t need selection mode — tap the 3-dot more-actions menu on the entry’s row. It offers Copy, Share, and Delete for that single entry.
