Force a sync, or turn it off
Cloud Sync runs automatically — at app launch, after edits, after review sessions. Most of the time you don’t need to touch it. But if you want to force a sync right now, or turn sync off for a device, both controls live in Settings → Advanced.
Sync now
If your tier includes the Sync now entitlement (Fluent+), there’s a tile in Settings → Advanced labeled Sync now (cloud-with-arrows icon).
- Subtitle when ready: “Push and pull vocabulary changes immediately.”
- Subtitle when Cloud Sync is off: “Turn on Cloud Sync to enable manual sync.”
- Subtitle when paused server-side: “Temporarily disabled by server.”
Tap it and SnapVerbo immediately pushes anything queued and pulls down anything new. When it finishes, you’ll see a snackbar with a one-line result (e.g., how many entries went up/down, whether images caught up).
Use it when:
- You just captured something on phone and want it on tablet right now.
- You think a recent change isn’t propagating and want to force the issue.
- You’re about to factory-reset or hand off a device — push everything before wiping.
When the Sync now tile is hidden
The tile only shows for tiers that include the syncNow entitlement. Lower tiers still get sync — it just runs on the automatic triggers (app launch, post-edit, post-session). There’s no manual button.
Turn Cloud Sync off
Same screen, Enable Cloud Sync toggle (cloud-outline icon).
Flipping it off opens a confirmation dialog. If you confirm, this device stops pushing or pulling sync changes. Your data stays where it is — locally on the device, and in the cloud — they just stop talking to each other.
You’ll typically only do this if:
- You want a device to be a “read-only” snapshot.
- You’re debugging something weird and want to isolate one device.
To turn it back on, just flip the toggle. The next sync cycle catches everything up.
Why “Temporarily disabled by server” appears
Rarely, we pause cloud sync from the server side — usually for maintenance. The toggle goes flat with subtitle “Temporarily disabled by server.” Your local data is untouched and any pending changes will sync as soon as the service is back.
Image sync status (Fluent+)
If you’re on Fluent+ (which includes image sync), you’ll see a Images: … row above the Sync now tile, summarising how many source images are uploaded vs pending. It refreshes after a manual sync.
